Frederick Fred G. Castle, 64, of Archbald, PA., died Thursday evening, August 7, 2008 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the former Roberta Carden-Kollra. Born November 11, 1943 in Sidney, NY., he was the son of the late Howard Castle and the late Virginia (Northup) Freeman. He was the stepson of the late Francis Freeman, who raised him. He was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, PA. and was an Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He formerly resided in Carbondale for many years and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He never lost his sense of humor even throughout his long illness. He was always willing to help anyone in need and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to the casino and playing the lottery. The family would also like to thank Dr. Christian Adonizio, Dr. Tamrat Bekele and the VNA Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to Fred. He is survived by three children: Doreen Kuttrubis and husband Bill of Carbondale, PA., Tammy Fives and husband Bill of Mayfield, PA. and Fred Castle and wife Trisha of Carbondale, PA.; two stepchildren: Robert Kollra and wife Elizabeth of Abington, MD. and Kim Benjamin and husband Bruce of Archbald, PA.; one sister: Donna Huffert of Carbondale, PA.; 14 grandchildren: Billy, Brittany, Karlie, Jacob, and Olivia Kuttrubis, Chad Castle, Shelby and Skylar Fives, Telysa, Ashley and Chelsea Castle, Noah and Chase Benjamin and Sam Kollra; one great grandchild: Autumn; Several Nieces Nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard and Jerry Castle. The funeral was held Monday, August 11, 2008 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 411 Church Street, Archbald, celebrated by Msgr. Joseph Bambera, pastor. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA. Pallbearers: William Kuttrubis, Sr., William Kuttrubis, Jr., William Fives, Chad Castle, Bruce Benjamin and Robert Kollra. Friends called Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 5-8 PM.
