Frank J. Wade, 63, of Whites Crossing, PA., died Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the VNA Hospice at CMC, Scranton, PA., following a sudden illness. His wife is the former Sharon Baker.
Born in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Edward A. and Eleanor Brady Wade.
He was a graduate of St. Rose High School, the University of Scranton and Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, NY. From 1968 to 1986, Frank was employed by the Carbondale Area School District, teaching economics and European history, as well as coaching basketball and baseball. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the National Education Association, and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. From 1986 until this year, he was the owner of the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home, Carbondale, which whom he remained affiliated until his death.
Surviving are three sons: Christopher and Michael, both of Dickson City, PA. and Daniel, Roslyn, PA.; one daughter: Kathleen Houser, Frederick, MD.; three grandchildren: Olivia and Sean Wade and Avery Houser; two step-grandchildren: Hunter and Madison Houser; one brother: Edward, Houston, TX.; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, con-celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor and Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Jeff Arthur, Jerry Maida, Brian Bognatz, Martin Lawler, Edward Krantz and Thomas Mancuso.
Honorary Pallbearers: Retired and current faculty members of the Carbondale Area School District.
Friends called Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 4-7 PM.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in the name of Frank and his dog, Buddy, to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
