Frank J. Buster Scorzafava, Sr., 78, of Childs, PA., died Friday morning, March 9, 2012 at Regional Hospital of Scranton, Scranton, PA. His wife was the former Rosalie C. Slusser of Moosic, PA., who died on July 9, 2007. They were married on October 14, 1961. Born November 29, 1933 in Childs, PA., he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Lee Scorzafava. He was a 1952 graduate of the Mayfield High School and was an Army veteran having served active duty from 1956-1958 and than with the Army Reserve until 1962. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for over 50 years as a clerk at DG Nicholas Auto Parts in Carbondale. He was still currently employed at the Circle Drive In, Dickson City, PA. and had formerly worked at the Elkview Country Club at Crystal Lake, PA. He was a member of the Meredith Hose Company, Childs, the Hornets Nest Hunting Club, Blooming Grove Township, PA. and St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He enjoyed spending time at the Carbondale Senior Center and Racqueteers Health Club in Mayfield, PA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing Bingo and was a Jack of all trades, who loved to do handyman projects such as carpentry, masonry and plumbing. His favorite pastime was being with his three grandsons whom he was very proud of. Buster was a very loving, kind and generous person who was always willing to help anyone in need. No one was ever a stranger to Buster and he always made friends no matter where he went. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by one son: Frank Scorzafava, Jr. of Childs, PA.; one daughter: Mary Ann Gonsauls and husband Louis, Jr. of Childs, PA; three grandsons: Louis, III., Justin and Cody Gonsauls; one brother: James Scorzafava of Northampton, PA.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Phillip Scorzafava. The funeral was held Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, associate pastor. Interment, S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca, PA. Military honors were provided by the Simpson VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers: Louis Gonsauls, III., Justin Gonsauls, Cody Gonsauls, Michael Hensel, Matthew Hensel, Paul Scorzafava, Sr., Paul Scorzafava, Jr. and Justin Scorzafava.
