Frank B. Scalzo, 69, of Scranton, PA, died Friday, January 15, 2021 at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton. His wife is the former Phyllis Baldino. They were married March 3, 1998. Born December 27, 1951 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Basil F. and Carmella Scarpino Scalzo. Frank was a 1969 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and started his career as a carpet layer for Lustig's Furniture Store, Carbondale. He then owned and operated the store for numerous years before moving to Houston, Texas where he also owned a carpet store. He drove truck and managed a carpet store in Philadelphia before retiring in 2007. Frank was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed hunting and cooking. His greatest joy was his weekly card game with his four friends. He is survived by one son: Frank Scalzo and wife, Francine of Hamilton, VA; two step daughters: Rechelle Waibel and husband, Mikel of Dalton, PA and Nicole Wells and husband, Michael of Scranton, PA; five grandchildren: Stephanie, Erin, Julien, Jayde and Gavin; one sister: Bernadette Lepre and husband, Billy of Carbondale, PA; one niece; one nephew and several cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant brother. The funeral was held Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Walsh, pastor. Cremation followed. Pallbearers: Joseph Ferario, Carmine "Carney" Tolerico, Dr. Peter Pettinato, Carmino Pettinato, Michael Wells and Julian Wells.
