Obituary

Frank W. Homets, 71, of Carbondale, PA., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, December 19, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the former Madelyn Apostolico. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in June. Born August 31, 1935 in Waymart, PA., he was the son of the late Frank and Julia Mozeliak- Kennedy Homets. He was also preceeded in death by his step father Cecil Kennedy. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was a retired welder and was employed by Con Edison in New York City for 40 Years. He was a member of Union Local 15 and 798. Frank loved to hunt and fish but most importantly he loved and took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His willingness to open his door and home to many friends is only surpassed by his willingness to open his heart to any one in need. He lived life to the fullest and taught by his example of what it is to live as Christ commanded. To love the lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and to love your neighbor as yourself. The family would like to express their utmost thanks to the nurses of the VNA Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Frank and his family. He is survived by one son: Frank S. Homets of Northfield, NJ.; three daughters: Ann Marie Amadio and husband Joseph of Mayfield, PA., Mary Ann Iyoob and husband Jack of Jermyn, PA. and Diane Nevins and husband Dave of Carbondale, PA.; five grandchildren: Joseph Amadio, Amanda and Dominick Esgro, Jeffrey and David Nevins; two step grandchildren: Jason Josh Iyoob; four great grandchildren: Karissa Caffrey, Jeffrey Snyder, Connor and Aizlyn Nevins; one sister: Anna Barrese of Mayfield, PA.; two half sisters: Mary Frankovsky of Carbondale, PA. and Julia Dexheimer of Lake Ariel, PA; five half brothers: James Kennedy of Waymart, PA., Cecil Kennedy of Old Forge, PA., Bernard, Paul and Daniel Kennedy all of Honesdale, PA. Numerous Nieces Nephews He was preceded in death by one brother: John Homets The funeral was held Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 9:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, con-celebrated by Msgr. John Bendik, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, PA., Rev. James Paisley, pastor of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin, PA., Rev. Patrick Albert, pastor of the Forest City Community Catholic Churches, Rev. Philip Altivilla, pastor of St. Thomas Moore Church, Lake Ariel, PA., Rev. Richard Foy and Deacon James Cortegerone and Deacon Gene Kocach. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Friday, December 22, 2006 from 2-4 6-9 PM Pallbearers: Grandsons: Joseph Amadio, Jr., Dominick Esgro IV., Jeffrey Nevins, David Nevins and Jason Iyoob; Son-in-Laws: Jack Iyoob, David Nevins and Joseph Amadio, Sr.
