Frank S. Gorel, 90, a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Home, Carbondale, PA., and formerly of Whites Crossing, PA., died Sunday morning, October 31, 2010 at the nursing home.
Born May 18, 1920 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Stanley and Catherine (McCabe) Gorel.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II having received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 9 Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Stars, the American Theatre Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a tool and die maker for Manning, Maxwell and Moore Company, Bridgeport, CT. He was a former member of St. Michael's Church, Simpson, PA.
He is survived by two brothers: Joseph Gorel of Whites Crossing, PA. and Andrew Gorel of Carbondale, PA.; two sisters: Florence Bishop of Carbondale, PA. and Loretta Barrese of Union Dale, PA.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother: John Gorel; one sister: Mildred Griffin.
As per his request he was cremated and no services were held. Inurnment, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Carbondale, PA.
