Frank Ference, 87, Carbondale, PA., died Wednesday night, April 2, 2014 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA, after a lengthy illness. His wife of 57 years is the former Rose Krenitsky.
Born August 18, 1926 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Alexander and Pelegia Wislocki Ference.
He was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and prior to his retirement he was the owner and operator of Ference Evergreen Nursery located on Salem Mountain in Carbondale. He was a faithful member of St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Church in Simpson, PA and served for many years on the church committee.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including nephew and godchild, Harry Krenitsky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul and Michael Mickey Ference; five sisters: Anna Myroniuk, Mary Sladicka, Celia Turpack, Julia Mozda and Irene Turpack.
The funeral was held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 12:30 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Requiem Service at 1:00 PM in St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Church, 33 Midland Street, Simpson, with the Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest David J. Hritcko, officiating. Interment, parish cemetery, Simpson, PA.
Friends called Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 4-7 PM. Parastas was held at 6:30 PM.
