Obituary

Frank Rybak, 66, formerly of Scott Township, PA, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 29, 1950 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Catherine Kopchain Rybak. He graduated Scott High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter he joined the Scott Township Hose Co. as a volunteer firefighter and through years of dedication, became First Assistant Fire Chief and subsequently, a Lifetime Member. He was also an active member of their softball team. Most recently, he worked for Kane Distribution before his retirement, receiving several awards to include perfect attendance and excellence. His most cherished hobbies included fishing; however, hunting was his passion and he enjoyed both throughout the years and into retirement. He looked forward to hunting season every year with his nephew, Bobby, and the late Robert Ragni who was not only his brother-in-law, but his best friend. As a father, he took on the role as coach for his daughters' softball team for many years, dedicating himself to help the team establish qualities and skills to not only win, but to build character. Much of the time he spent with his daughters was in the role of "teacher", whether it was teaching how to throw a softball, how to perform mechanical maintenance on a vehicle or the importance of taking care of not only what you have, but who you have in your life. He is survived by two daughters: Valerie Williams of Scranton, PA and Miranda Rybak and fiancé Peter Arvonio, III. of Scott Township, PA; two grandchildren: Grayson and Hannah Williams; one sister: Judy Ragni of Moosic, PA. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Robert Ragni.
