Obituary

Francis "Sasky" Olszewski, 80, of Carbondale, PA, died early Thursday morning, July 16, 2020 after an illness at the home of his niece, Diana Obelkevich, who was his caregiver for the past several months. Born February 17, 1940 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Polinski Olszewski. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Myer, Arlington, VA, during the Vietnam War. He had been employed for many years as a cook and bartender at Orazzi's Blue Ridge Inn, Greenfield Township, PA, and was a former member of the Cottage Hose Company, Carbondale. Until recently, he had resided at Newton Lake for several years. He is survived by his companion of 40 years: Alice Hill of Carbondale, PA; a sister: Betty Mancuso and husband, A.J. of Carbondale, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Lawrence, Thomas, Joseph and William Olsewski. As per his request, private interment was held at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Arrangements by Carmine J. & Louis C.
