Francis M. Gavas, Sr. 98, of Clayton, DE, died Friday, March 22, 2024 in Milford, DE. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Mildred Masiuk, a native of Clifford Township, PA, who died on June 25, 1978.

Born October 10, 1925 in Throop, PA, he was the son of the late Peter and Tefelia Zatranskas Gavasdauskas. He was a native of North Scranton and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his two sons: John and Frank Gavas, and their families.

He was also preceded in death by nine siblings.

A private graveside service with military honors was held at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA, with Rev. Seth D. Wasnock, pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale, PA, officiating.
