Obituary

Francis G. Bannon, 92, of Emmaus, PA., and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday evening, June 10, 2010 in the Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA. His beloved wife is the former Evelyn Horan. The couple was married on August 4, 1948. Born in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Shevlin Bannon. Frank was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and Lackawanna Business College. He attended the University of Scranton and was an Army veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Scranton, PA. Frank was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and for the past five years was also a member of St. Thomas Moore Church, Allentown. A devout Catholic, he was deeply devoted to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and Our Lady of the Rosary. He will be lovingly remembered for his faithfulness to God, his country, and his family. He died peacefully with his wife, children, and grandchildren at his side. In addition to his wife Evelyn, Frank is survived by his children: Mary Walter and husband Robert of Columbia, MD., Elizabeth Ann Bannon of Mountaintop, PA., Eileen Bannon of Hershey, PA., Kathleen McKernan and husband Richard of Mountaintop, PA. and Anne Kuna and husband Mark of Allentown, PA.; his grandchildren: Andrew Walter of Columbia, MD., Noreen, Emily and Brian McKernan of Mountaintop, PA., Matthew, Ryan and Scott Kuna of Allentown, PA.; his sister-in-law: Rita Horan of Carbondale, PA.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Ambrose, Joseph and John; his sisters: Rita, Catherine and Mary. The funeral was held Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John Doris, Monsignor David Tressler, Rev. Leo McKernan Rev. Charles Connor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill, PA. Friends and family called Monday, June 14, 2010 from 2-4 7-9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Priests for Life, P.O.
