Florence A. Thomas, 98, formerly of Crystal Lake, PA and a resident of Carbondale, PA, died Monday evening, November 2, 2015 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA.
Born October 10, 1917 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Mary Torino Thomas. Florence was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and worked as a machine operator for the Gentex Corporation, Simpson, PA, for 14 years prior to her retirement. While she lived in Crystal Lake, she was a member of St. Pius X Church, Royal, PA.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; her caregiver: Sarah Grace Mancuso.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Loretta Thomas, Kathryn Tolerico and Mary Sanchirico; four brothers: Mark, Fred, Lawrence and Anthony Thomas. The funeral was held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, concelebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, pastor and Rev. Michael J. Kerwin, pastor of St. Pius X Church, Royal. Interment, parish cemetery, Carbondale. Pallbearers: Stephen Tolerico, Bennie Tolerico, Al Sanchirico, Jeff Tolerico, Cathy Schuler and Patty Riddell.
