Florence M. Cottrell, age 79, of Clifford, PA. died Thursday evening, September 30, 2004 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of the late LeRoy C. Cottrell, Sr. who died January 8, 2002.
Born December 16, 1924 in Jermyn, PA. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Murial (Adams) Reynolds.
Florence was a longtime member of the Worth Baptist Church in Jermyn, PA. and truly lived by her faith. She was a graduate of Scott Schools. Florence and LeRoy opened their hearts and home to foster children and anyone who needed a place to stay. Florence was a very special lady, who loved children, operated a home care center and for the past two years volunteered as a foster grandparent at the Mountain View Elementary School. She was a loving and devoted mother, who always had a smile for you and would be the first one to help at a time of need.
She was known to everyone as Gram. Florence loved her family, especially her grand and great grand children.
She was an avid crocheter who made afghans for everyone. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna and husband William Harding of Wilkes-barre, PA. and Lori and husband Paul Cook of Clifford, PA.; one son: LeRoy Skip Cottrell, Jr., and fiance Marsha Smith of Jackson, PA.; one sister: Gladys Coon of Lenoxville, PA.; one brother: Floyd and wife Della Reynolds of Tunkhannock, PA.; 5 Grandchildren: Grandson, Chris and wife Jannette Rosler; Grandson, Mark Rosler; Grandson, Ken and wife Vicki Cottrell; Granddaughter, Kim and husband Robert Gerrity and Grandson, Dusty Estabrook; 2 Great Granddaughters; 1 Great Grandson; Several Nieces Nephews; 5 Foster Children to whom she has always remained Mom and 10 Foster Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by one brother: Francis Reynolds; one infant sister: Stella Reynolds
The funeral was held Monday, October 4, 2004 at 10:15 am from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, with a service at 11:00 am in the Worth Baptist Church, RD 1, Jermyn, with the Rev. James Major, pastor and Rev. Alex Scott, officiating. Interment, Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Sunday, October 3, 2004 from 2-4 7-9 PM. Pallbearers: Chris Rosler, Mark Rosler, Ken Cottrell, Joe Bixby, Galand Manuel, Leland Manuel and Dusty Esterbrook.
