Evelyn Barbaro, 76, a resident of Carbondale, PA, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Creekside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by her family after her year and a half courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born in Wildflechen, Germany and was the daughter of the late Herman and Lena Barth. She came to the U.S. at 18 years of age to marry her late husband, John. They would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in November. Prior to her illness she was employed at the Carbondale YMCA, Drs. Mariotti and Quinn and was a seamstress in many local dress factories. She was also well known for her cooking and outstanding desserts. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hyzinski and Dr .Peters and the staff at Creekside Rehabilitation especially nurses: Rose, Cindy, Madelena and Sharon and CNA's: Alicia, Steph, Laurie, Tonya, Cindy, Charity, Crystal and Carrie. We could not have asked for anymore special care that you all have provided her with and you all became her special family. She is survived by her son: Tony and wife, Ann Marie Barbaro of Carbondale, PA; daughter: Gina Barbaro and fiancé, Gary Waters of Carbondale, PA; granddaughters: Erika Barbaro and companion Jordan Swift of Carbondale, PA, Jillian and Alex Bazink of Carlisle, PA, and Kristi and James Stoklosa of Waymart, PA; a sister: Helga and husband Kurt Hautmann of Germany and sister-in-law: Ann Marie and husband Vince Amato of Carbondale, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Michael Voglino; sister-in-laws: Marion Barbaro and Lucille Martone and a niece: Christina Hautmann. The funeral was held Friday, October 26, 2018 with a blessing service at 10:00 a.m. from Carmine J. and Louis C. Parise Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Jordan Swift, Alex Bazink, James Stoklosa, Gary Waters, Jeff Waters and Greg Terpak.
