Eugene A. Robinson, Sr., 66, of Scranton, PA., died Thursday morning, June 13, 2013 at Commonwealth Hospice, Scranton, after an illness. Born September 21, 1946 in Marion, SC., he was the son of the late Arthur and Indiana Robinson. He was a life long member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Scranton. He enjoyed going to the casino's and was an avid New England Patriots, New York Yankees and New York Knicks fan. The family would like to thank the nurses at Commonwealth Hospice, especially Kathy Kennedy and Dr. Michael Burke for the compassionate care given to Gene. He is survived by two sons: Eugene, Jr. and Anthony; three daughters: Jeanine Harris, Trudy Nesbeth and Theresa Wilson; one sister: Clara Bell Robinson; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend: Phyllis Scalzo. He was preceded in death by one son: Joseph; one brother: James; one niece: Susan; and a special aunt who raised him, Thelma Franklin. A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 6:00 PM from the Bethel AME Church, 716 N. Washington Avenue, Scranton, with Rev. Tawan Bailey, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
