Eugene J. Domaracki, 69, of Greenfield Township, PA, died Thursday morning, December 19, 2013 at home after a year long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 12 years the former Jane Miller. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Helena Pastewski who died on June 22, 1992.
Born February 13, 1944 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Lensky Domaracki.
He was a graduate of Rutgers University's School of Pharmacy and served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a pharmacist with the medical corps. He was a former resident of Newark and Irvington, New Jersey where he owned and operated Lewitt Drug in Irvington for many years. After moving to the area he had been employed as the hospital pharmacist at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, PA from 1984 until its closing in 2012. He was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale.
Gene was a very outgoing person whose gift to gab allowed him to easily make friends wherever he went. He enjoyed his many trips to the area casino's and will be miss deeply by his faithful companions, Jack and Cassie as well as his cat, Cinder.
He is survived by two sons: David Domaracki of Scott Township, PA and Kenneth Domaracki of Eynon, PA; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 9:30 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Entombment took place on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
Friends called Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2-4 7-9 PM at Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA.
