Esther R. Adams, age 80, a resident of Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA., and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died late Wednesday evening, February 16, 2011 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Adams who died in 1970.
Born August 16, 1930 in Binghamton, NY., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (Slack) Heath.
She was a graduate of Whitney Point Central High School, Whitney Point, NY. and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. Before her retirement, she worked many years as a clerk for the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale.
She is survived by two daughters: Joan Cerra and husband Joseph of Carbondale, PA. and Donna and husband Bruce Zavatsky of Wright WY.; two sisters: Anna Baxter of Ithaca, NY. and Helen Townsend of North Fort Myers, FL.; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter: Laurie Davidson; one son: William DeGroat; three brothers: Robert, Albert and Frederick Heath.
The funeral was held Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 10:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA, with a service at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, 20 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA, with the Rev. Doug Posegate, pastor, officiating. Cremation followed. Inurnment, Kattelville Cemetery, Chenango, NY.
Pallbearers: Joseph Cerra, Sr., Joseph Cerra, Jr., Peter Nakonechni, Mark Dick and Frank Lapera.
