Eric G. Stephens, of Tompkinsville, PA., died Saturday morning, November 10, 2007 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA., after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Linda (Edwards) Stephens. The couple was married 31 years. Born in Carbondale, PA., he is the son of George and Rosemari (Healey) Stephens of Greenfield Township, PA.
He was a 1969 graduate of Mountain View High School and a 1973 graduate of The University of Scranton where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He was a self-employed businessman and third generation owner of H.L. Stephens and Son Ford-Mercury in Lenoxville, PA. He was also a board member of Community Bank and Trust Company in Clifford and Clarks Summit, PA. Eric was a classic automobile enthusiast, enjoyed snowmobiling and restoring vintage sleds, motorcycles, and racing both r/c and dirt oval modified race cars. He was a member of the Tall Timber Hunting Lodge, Corpus Christi Church, Montdale, PA., where he served on the finance committee and supported the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered his time with many community activities in the Clifford area. The family would like to thank the entire nursing staff at the Moses Taylor Hospital for all of their help and support through this difficult time.
He is survived by two daughters: Heidi Stephens-Pavelski husband Steven of Greenfield Township, PA. Jodi Bello husband Jason of Boyertown, PA.; one son: Eric Stephens, Jr. of Lenoxville, PA.; one sister: Beth Komar husband John of Clifford, PA.; one grandson: Lyndon Bello; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Corpus Christi Church, Montdale, celebrated by Rev. William Flynn, pastor, Rev. Albert Oldfield and Rev. John Polednak. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.
Friends called Tuesday, November 13, 2007 from 5-9 pm at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Corpus Christi Church, RD1 Box 389, Olyphant, PA 18447.
