Emil A. Novotny, age 86, of Mayfield, PA., died unexpectedly late Thursday evening, June 1, 2006 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. His wife was the late Melvina Creavey who passed away December 6, 1965. His long time companion is Josephine Palkiewycz, also of Mayfield.
Born January 8, 1920 in Eynon, PA., he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Novotny.
He was a graduate of Archbald High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving in World War II. He currently owned and operated Jo-Peny located on Route 6 in Mayfield and formerly owned Nevermark, Inc. located on Main Steeet, Dickson City, PA.
He is survived by one daughter: Barbara husband John Decker of Crystal River, FL.; one sister: Pauline Garrity of Bellville, NJ.; one granddaughter: Bridget McCrea of Dunedin, FL.; one great granddaughter: Catherine Nicole Nothstein; Several Nieces Nephews
He was preceded in death by one sister: Matilda Bryer
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 5, 2006 at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor.
Cremation followed at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald.
A private viewing was held Monday morning from 8:00-8:30 AM at the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale.
Pallbearers: Carmine Avella and Jonathan Reckless.
