Elsie M. Mussari, 94, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA. She was the wife of Samuel A. Mussari, who died August 3, 1990.
Born in Carbondale, PA, she was daughter of the late John and Maude Barnicott Wright.
She was a 1938 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. Prior to her marriage, she had been employed by Cramer's Photography Studio in Carbondale. Elsie and her husband along with her their brother-in-law, Jesse were co-owners of Mussari's Beer Garden located on Dundaff Street, Carbondale. She also had worked in the maintenance department at the former Carbondale General Hospital.
Elsie enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid reader.
The family would like to thank the emergency room staff at Geisinger-CMC and the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care to Elsie during her illness.
She is survived by nephews and nieces: Mr. & Mrs. John Serafini of New York, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Mussari of Florida, Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Mussari of Ohio, Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Mussari of New York; Billy Mussari and Cathy of Archbald, PA, Gloria Krzywiec of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Serafini of Carbondale, PA and Linda of Arizona; her extended family: Mary Ann and George Black of Carbondale, with whom she resided and their family, Joseph and Diane Galati of Carbondale and their family; her dear friends: Shirley Thomas, Michael Kresock and Diane Kurtz.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Elmer and Infant Ronald Wright.
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale with services at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, with Rev. Doug Posegate, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Roger Kaminski, Michael Galati, Phillip Curcio, Joseph Graziano, Billy Mussari and Dominick Bednash. Friends called Monday, March 9, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions were made in Elsie's name to First United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA 18407
