Obituary

Elizabeth R. Sheridan, age 93, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday evening, March 3, 2014 peacefully and surrounded by family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Alan Robinson in Clarks Summit, PA. She was the wife of the late John C. Sheridan, who died November 10, 1978. Born January 19, 1921 in Larksville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Mary (Harrison) Jones. Liz was involved with the American Red Cross Blood Drives, Meals on Wheels, Association for the Blind and sold daffodil's at local businesses to raise money for cancer awareness. She was a long time member of the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale and taught Sunday School, played piano, was a member of the choir and the Naomi and Ruth Circles worship groups within the church. She was also on the board and a missionary treasurer for the church. She also belonged to the Thursday morning ladies bowling league and neighborhood canasta card club. She is survived by one son: James E. Sheridan and wife Linda of South Canaan, PA; two daughters: Lynn R. Magistro and husband Anthony of Scott Township, PA and Kimberly Robinson and husband Alan of Clarks Summit, PA; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister: Ruth Ball of Sebring, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Darlene Kacer; one brother: Jack Jones. The funeral was held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM from the Berean Baptist Church, 33 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with Rev. John McCarty, pastor, officiating. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA. Pallbearers: David DePrato, John DePrato, Peter Kacer, Jeff Magistro and Justin Magistro all grandsons. Friends called Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, PA and Friday, March 7, 2014 from 9-10 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent in Liz's name to the American Cancer Society, 712 South Keyser Avenue, Taylor, PA 18517.
