Elizabeth Scott, age 82, of Clifford Township, PA., died early Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. She was preceded in death by her first husband George M. Zuk, who died in 1959 and her second husband Dean C. Scott, who died in 2005.
Born December 18, 1929 in Forest City, PA., she was the daughter of the late Wasyl and Mary (Milnachuk) Evanishyn.
She was a graduate of the Forest City High School and worked as a cashier in the dietary department of the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA., for 25 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Dundaff, PA.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and baking. She had a love of animals and was known to take in strays and nurse them back to good health throughout her life.
She is survived by one daughter: Cheri Davidowitz of Kingston, PA.; four sons: George Zuk, II. of Brewerton, NY., Joseph Zuk of Clifford, PA., Michael Zuk of Clifford, PA. and Dean Scott of Clifford Township, PA.; two sisters: Mary Steponitis of Waymart, PA. and Penny Williams of Union Dale, PA.; 9 grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandson: George Zuk, III.; two sisters: Annie Wolfe and Stella Kloptosky; two brothers: Michael and Walter Evanishyn.
The funeral was held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with the Very Reverend Dennis Swencki, pastor of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Dundaff, PA., officiating.
A visitation followed the funeral service on Saturday from 10:30 AM till 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
