Elizabeth R. (Collins) Mullen, age 81, of Carbondale, PA., died Sunday afternoon, August 1, 2010 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Ambrose Richard Mullen. Born February 2, 1929 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Grady) Collins. She was a lifelong resident of Carbondale and a member of St. Rose Parish. She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale in 1947 and Lackawanna Junior Business College, Scranton in 1949. Upon graduation, she worked at Gentex Corporation, Inc., Simpson until she married. After raising a family of seven children, she lost her husband to cardiovascular disease and subsequently became a devoted volunteer for the American Heart Association. Beloved by her family and friends, she opened her heart and home to hours of love and attention to her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by five daughters: Carol Maness of Lansdale, PA., Patricia Milavec of North Wales, PA., Ellen Mullen of Carbondale, PA., Elizabeth Demchak of Carbondale, PA. and Mary Frances Glavich of Browndale, PA.; two sons: Richard Mullen of Throop, PA. and Mark Mullen of Carbondale, PA.; fourteen grandchildren: Lisa Maness Stiefel, Laura Maness, Carolyn Maness, Richard Chris Mullen, Sean Mullen, Tara Mullen, Brianna Milavec, Jonathan Milavec, Marty Mullen, Meghan Demchak, Chivon Demchak, Frannie Mullen, Kelsey Glavich and Colleen Glavich; several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by one grandson: Matthew Mullen; three brothers: James and Infants Patrick and Tom Collins. The funeral was held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David Tressler, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Daniel Milavec, Allan Maness, Joseph Teeple, Brian Dente, Joseph Demchak, Fred Glabich, Marty, Sean and Richard Mullen. Friends called Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 5-8 PM.
