Elizabeth A. Betty Lupyak, age 68, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA., died Friday evening, December 9, 2011 at Regional Hospital of Scranton, Scranton PA., following an illness. She was the wife of 42 years to Richard E. Lupyak. Born October 9, 1943 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred (Siefring) Moran. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale and recently was on the planning committee to celebrate her 50th high school reunion. She worked for 30 years as a waitress for Zazzera's Sweet Shop, Carbondale. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, enjoyed baking and was an avid Steelers fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Dr. Joseph Bannon and ICU Unit of the Regional Hospital of Scranton for their kind and compassionate care to Betty. She is survived by one daughter: Marion Yurgosky and husband Keith of Greenfield Township, PA.; one son: Edward Lupyak and wife Sarah of Truckee, CA.; six grandchildren: Annie, Emily and Maggie Yurgosky and Charlotte, Beck and Wyatt Lupyak; one sister: Rosemary Kearney of Carbondale, PA.; three brothers: Thomas Moran of Pittston, PA, Joseph Moran and wife Darlene of Peckville, PA. and Robert Moran of Wilkes-Barre, PA.; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor David L. Tressler, pastor and Deacon Carmine Mendicino. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Jerry Corrigan, Sr., Jerry Corrigan, Jr., Jerry Mahar, Sr., Jerry Mahar, Jr., Sean Mahar and Jack Kearney. Friends called Monday, December 12, 2011, from 5-8 PM at the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale.
