Elizabeth M. Lewandowski, age 80, a resident of the Willowbrook Assisted Living, Clarks Summit, PA. and formerly of Union Dale, PA., died Saturday morning, August 22, 2009 at the VNA Hospice at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Walter R. Lewandowski, who died March 3, 1989. Born January 10, 1929 in Anderson, SC., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Rucker) Mott.She was a member of the Lackawanna Kennel Club, the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Bethel Congregation at the Welsh Hill Church, Union Dale, PA. She worked as a bookkeeper for Adams Television, Carbondale, PA., in the kitchen at Elk Mountain Ski Resort, Union Dale, PA. and co-owned along with her husband Lewandowski Sunoco Station in Scranton and Lenox, PA for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, was a great seamstress and had a big love of dogs. She will be greatly missed by her family.She is survived by one daughter: Patricia Lysak and husband Daniel of State College, PA.; two sons: W. Richard Lewandowski and Gerald Lewandowski and wife Victoria, all of Union Dale, PA.; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Teri, Peter, Leslie, Stacy and Renee; six great grandchildren: Nathan, Andrew, Eric, Anna, Benjamin and Blake; several nieces and nephews.A memorial service was held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 7:00 PM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, PA., celebrated by the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488 Ladies Auxiliary. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Inurnment, Welsh Hill Cemetery, Union Dale, PA. Friends called Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to the Humane Society or PAWS.
