Elizabeth "Betty" Talarico Amato, 95, of DeFuniak Spring, Florida, died Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Vitas Hospice, Coral Springs, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard D. Amato in 1995

Born January 2, 1928 in Carbondale, PA, she was the last surviving child of the late Joseph and Angelina Scalzo Talarico.

Betty was a devoted and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proud of all their accomplishments and loved to share their stories with family and friends. Betty especially loved being around and caring for babies as they were always drawn to her when she was in their presence.

She is survived by two daughters: Dawn Daugherty and husband, Terry of Coral Springs, FL and Michelle Hewett of West Palm Beach, FL; ten grandchildren: Christina, William, Kimberly and Mark Hopkins, Matthew, Jonathan and Christopher Daugherty, Dawn Trigona, Dominick Maestre and Christian Joyce; 15 great grandchildren: Brendan, Isabella, Emilia, Ella, Luke, Liam, Alyssa, Breanna, Victoria, Anthony, Skylar, Addison, Angelea, Gabriella and Jazmine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Deborah Hopkins and Marilyn Joyce; and 16 siblings: Frank, Dominick "Mickey", Constantine "Connie" and Serafine "Larky" Talarico, Mary Gillott, Julia Talarico, Rose Grazzini, Angela Parise, Hortense Sposito, Olympia "Nempie" Nicholas, Theresa Carden, Mafalda Enslin and infants: Frank, Joseph, Julio, and Frederick.

The funeral was held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 under the direction of her nephews from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: Mark Hopkins, Christopher Daugherty, Jonathan Daugherty, Matthew Daugherty, Brendan Manns and Anthony Trigona.

Viewing hours were held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 6-9 p.m.
