Elinor D. Redfern, 101, of East Stroudsburg, PA, died Monday, June 24, 2019 at the residence of her daughter in Somerville, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roy Redfern. Born March 10, 1918 in Endicott, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elise Dietrich Updyke. Elinor was a graduate of Greenfield Township High School and entered Boston Household Nursing Association on May 10, 1943 and later graduated on November 27, 1944. She spent her entire career as an LPN working private duty nursing. In her younger years, she grew up attending the Clifford Baptist Church and was later a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in New Jersey. She is survived by three daughters: Lee Ann Redfern of East Stroudsburg, PA, Charlene Ruggini of Somerville, NJ and Marcella Buck of Bridgewater, NJ; five Grandchildren: Karl Redfern, Matthew Buck, Jessica, Alicia and Daniel Ruggini; six great grandchildren: Ashley, Nicholas and Brittany Redfern, Rylie, Savanna and Aubree Ruggini; numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Amabel Machell, Dora Amos and Rita Stovel; four brothers: Willard, Walter, Delbert and infant Don Jay Updyke. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.
