Eleanor Churchill, 93, of Clifford, PA, died Sunday night, June 14, 2015 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA, after a brief illness. She was the wife of Ralph William "Bill" Churchill, who died on May 14, 1994.
Born October 29, 1921 in Lenoxville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. and Ruth Horton Ross.
Eleanor was a graduate of Nicholson High School and Mansfield State Teachers College. She was an elementary school teacher having first taught in South Gibson, PA and later in Harford, PA. She was a longtime member of the Berean Baptist Church in Carbondale, PA and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
She is survived by four grandchildren: Peter and Tracie Rheel, Danielle Amari and Christopher DeRose; three great grandchildren: Isabella, Lilly and Emma; a step daughter: Joyce DeRose of Holbrook, NY; five sisters: Rena Orchard of Nicholson, PA, Elba High of Staten Island, NY, Frances Simms of Texas, Janet Davis of New Mexico and Laura Kutzko of Macungie, PA; three brothers: Robert Ross of Texas, Wesley Ross of Dalton, PA and Lawrence Ross of Vermont; a son in law: Robert Rheel of Pottstown, PA; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Ruth Ann Rheel; a sister: Roberta Monis.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with Eleanor's brother, Rev. Robert Ross, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.
Pallbearers: Scott Ross, Randy Ross, Peter Rheel, Gordon Monis, Joseph Orchard and Donald Orchard.
