Edward C. Ward, Jr., 93, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday night, September 6, 2023 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, the former Ann Genovese.

Born January 1, 1930 in Carbondale, PA, he was the last surviving child of the late Edward, Sr. and Marion Caviston Ward.

Ed worked for many years as a carpenter for Sordoni Construction and later retired from the Carbondale Area School District's maintenance department at the age of 83. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 445 in Scranton, the American Legion Post 221, Carbondale, the Columbia Hose Company, Carbondale, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Ed enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with his family. He was an avid New York Yankees and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

He is also survived by one daughter: Debbie Krenitsky of Fell Township, PA; six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Dianna, Christina and Qwintin Krenitsky, Melissa Thornton and husband, Joseph and Tracy Duffy and husband, Robert; seven great-grandchildren: Bobby, Lillian, Anna, Matthew, Joey, Benjamin and Theo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one son: Eddie Ward; an infant daughter: Debbie; a son-in-law: David Krenitsky; three brothers: Joseph, James (Kenny) and Jack Ward; and one sister: Yvonne Kusin.

A funeral Mass will be held at a future date.
