Obituary

Edward J. Tranovich, 84, of Greenfield Township, PA., died Tuesday evening, November 8, 2011 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. He is survived by his wife the former Pearl J. Stracham. They were married on October 13, 1951. Born January 25, 1927 in RD, Olyphant, PA., he was the son of the late George and Mary Skwish Tranovich. He was an Army veteran having served during World War II and was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church in Dickson City, PA. He was a self employed dairy farmer and truck driver prior to his retirement. The family would like to thank the staff of Marian Community Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Ed during his illness. He is survived by four children: Edward Tranovich of Greenfield Township, PA., Brian Tranovich and wife Mary Ann of Greenfield Township, PA., Sharon Gaughan and husband Joseph of Greenfield Township, PA. and Christine Fron and husband John of Scott Township, PA.; four grandchildren: John David Fron, Michael Charles Fron, Mary Beth and Kristina Tranovich; one brother: Gene Tranovich and wife Margaret of Scott Township, PA.; two sisters: Eleanor Sparrow and husband Joseph of Olyphant, PA. and Alona Dougalas and husband Tony of Mountain Top, PA.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald and Dion Tranovich. The funeral was held Friday, November 11, 2011 at 10:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, celebrated by Rev. Walter F. Skiba. Interment with military honors, Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Edward Tranovich, Brian Tranovich, Joseph Gaughan, John Fron, John David Fron and Michael Charles Fron. Friends called Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 6-9 PM.
