Edward Bonczkiewicz, Sr., age 82, of Greenfield Township, PA., died early Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013 at the Mid Valley Hospital, Peckville, PA. His wife of 54 years is the former Laureen Pasko. Born April 15, 1930 in Scott Township, PA., he was the son of the late Nicholas and Cecelia (Laskowski) Bonczkiewicz. He served ten years in the military during the Korean War. After the war, he served with the 365th Engineers of the Army Reserves. He worked as a police officer in Scott Township for 17 years and worked 30 years in construction and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 542 for 50 years. After retirement, he lived his remaining years farming. He was a devoted and wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was very proud of his family and loved his animals. He is survived by five children: Donna Lawler of Clifford, PA., Edward Bonczkiewicz, Jr. and wife Lorie of Eynon, PA., Robert Bonczkiewicz of Greenfield Township, PA., Lori Ann Bonczkiewicz and companion Jason Thiede of Union Dale, PA. and Nicholas Bonczkiewicz and wife Lisa of Greenfield Township, PA.; five grandchildren: Edward, III., Belle, Lane, Lexis and Nicholas Bonczkiewicz; one sister: Ann Teddick of Chapman Lake, PA,; one brother: Stanley Bonczkiewicz of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Joseph, John, Nicholas, Bernard and Frank Bonczkiewicz; two sisters: Betty Glenicky and Cecelia Kaszuba. A blessing service was held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, officiated by Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor of St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale, PA. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, Pa 18411.
