Eddie C. Ward, 56, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday night, December 11, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of seven years the former Denise Pormigiano-Mugavin, formerly of Queens, NY. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Ilene Kauffman. Born November 26, 1957 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of Edward and Ann Genovese Ward of Carbondale. He was employed in the production department at Procter and Gamble in Mehoopany, PA. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his ATV. He was a proud Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Eagles fan. Denise would like to thank the nurses from VNA Hospice for their kind and compassionate care to Eddie and their guidance, comfort and friendship to herself over the past several months. He is survived by two daughters: Tracy Duffy and husband Bob of Street, MD and Melissa Thornton and husband Dr. Joseph of Newark, DE; one son: Corey Edwards of Archbald, PA; one step son: Dylan Mugavin of Carbondale, PA; one sister: Debbie Krenitsky and husband David of Carbondale, PA; four grandchildren: Bobby, Lillian, Anna and Matthew Duffy; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend: Jeri Corrigan. As per Eddie's request he was cremated and no services were held. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
