Obituary

Duane D. Koerner, 64, of West Scranton, PA., died Friday night, January 29, 2010 at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA., from cardio vascular health issues. Born in West Scranton, PA., he was the son of the late Reuben and Hazel Mary (Weidener) Koerner. As a youth he attended the Bethel Baptist Church Sunday School. He was a professional interior and exterior decorating contractor who was well respected for his quality workmanship and was once a member of the Painters Union. He was active as a member of the Koerner and Weidener family reunions. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors as a hunter and fisherman, billiards-pool shark, amateur boxer, high school and professional football fan, open mike singer and a fan of the local band, Old Friends. He is survived by two brothers: Gary Lee Koerner of Vienna, VA. and Russell Alfred Koerner of Scranton, PA.; one sister: Megan Alice K. Howells of Wilmington, DE.; four nieces and nephews: Brenda Creegan Joskolka, Joseph Creegan, Jr. and Greg Joskolka all of Wilmington, DE. and Jacqueline Marie Koerner of St. Louis, MO.; one grand nephew: Joseph Brenden Joskolka of Wilminton, DE. Family and friends called Friday, February 5, 2010 from 6 to 9 PM at Fraternal Order of Eagles - F.O.E. 314, corner of 483 Meridian Ave. and Luzerne St., West Scranton. A reception was held at 6:00 PM and eulogies were presented at 7:00 PM. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA. Cards and Flowers may be send to the Koerner Family, 1311 Watson St., Scranton, PA 18504. Memorial contributions can be made in Duane's name to the Bethel Baptist Church, 1132 S. Main Ave. Scranton, PA 18504.
