Dorothy Ann Schermerhorn, 84, of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Schermerhorn on November 7, 1966. Born October 1, 1935 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Patrick "Thatcher" and Placidia Kerl Moran. Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and the Carbondale Beauty School. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for several years in the local garment industry. Dorothy was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and enjoyed bowling having participated in several area bowling leagues. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her visits with children. When they came to visit, they brought her such happiness. She is survived by two children: Dr. Thomas Schermerhorn and wife, Jennifer of Wamego, KS, and Susan Green and husband, Thomas of Honesdale, PA; four grandchildren: Jacob, Lucy and Sam Schermerhorn and Alison Green; one sister: Joan Murphy and husband, Gene of Clifton, NJ; one brother: John Moran and wife, Theresa of Carbondale, PA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: William, Francis, Patrick and Joseph Moran. The funeral was held Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Walsh, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Wesley McCracken, Colleen McCracken, Charles Ewins, Kathy Margotta, Aaron Margotta and Dr. Joseph Seprosky.
