Obituary

Dorothy Resseguie of South Gibson passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the age of 105. She was the widow of Wendell K. Resseguie who died in 1976 and was the owner of the former Eagle Employment Agency of Scranton.

Dorothy was born April 8, 1920 in Wilkes Barre, and was the daughter of the late Warren and Elizabeth Glenn Stanton.

Dorothy grew up in Wilkes Barre and graduated from Coughlin High School. After marriage, she devoted her life to rearing her family and tending to the family farm. She was known for her baking, decorating and passion for antiques. Dorothy was deeply religious and stood firm in her Christian faith. She was formerly active with the West Lenox Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility in Susquehanna where Dorothy resided the past several years for their kind and compassionate care.

She is survived by two sons: Wayne Warren Resseguie and Gordon Keith Resseguie both of South Gibson; three daughters: Joyce Grace Newkirk of Summerfield, FL, Margaretta Elizabeth Bemisderfer of Louisville, KY and Marilyn Helene Yonker of Rancho Mirage, CA; one sister: Elsie Porter; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son: Wendell Keith Resseguie; three brothers: Jack, Joseph and Vincent Stanton; and four sisters: Margaretta Denn, Sarah Casey, Valeida Murray, and Eleanor Heenan.

Private interment will be held in the spring at the Gelatt Cemetery.
