Dorothy M. Feldhusen, 89, formerly of Greenfield Township, PA, died Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Geisinger Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late William F. Feldhusen. Born January 14, 1926 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Adele Kimker Smith. Dorothy was raised in Bremen, Germany by her maternal grandparents. She returned to New York after World War II finding work as a proofreader for the Wilson Company and later earned a clinical dietician certificate. She worked for The Floating Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital and Park West Hospital, all of Manhattan, prior to getting married.
She was a faithful member of Tompkinsville United Methodist Church and was known to all as Oma. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, feeding birds and taking care of her house plants. She also enjoyed time with her cat Liesel. Even as a resident of G-MVCC she cared for others and watched out for their safety. She touched everyone's lives with her loving and caring nature. She instilled in her children and grandchildren these values as well as her strong and unbreakable spirit.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda Snyder and husband David of Greenfield Township, PA; one son: Bill Feldhusen and wife Naomi of West Sand Lake, NY; five grandchildren: Stacy, Stephanie and Sharon Snyder and Will and Randall Feldhusen.
As per Dorothy's request she was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date in the Tompkinsville United Methodist Church, Tompkinsville, PA.
Arrangements were under the care of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
