Doris M. "Dee" Hayes, 89, of Hallstead, PA, died Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, PA. She was preceded in death by her first husband Ivan McLaud, second husband Bruce Hayes and companion Glynn C. Shifler. Born September 27, 1925 in Hop Bottom, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lillian Sweet Wilbur. Dee was the owner and operator, along with her husband Bruce, of the Jackson Heights Inn, Susquehanna for many years. She was a member of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488 Ladies Auxiliary, was a fabulous cook and loved her trips to the casinos. She is survived by a daughter: Carolyn Renter and companion Bill Racht of Union Dale, PA; three sons: Lynn "Red" McLaud and wife Susie Barlow of Clifford Township, PA, Elwood McLaud and wife Agnes of Nicholson, PA and Donald McLaud and wife Linda of Conway, SC; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister: Alice Pratt and husband Edward of Hallstead, PA, two brothers: Wesley Wilbur of Lenox, PA and Ernest Wilbur and wife Emma of Nicholson, PA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a grandson: Michael Renter; several brothers and sisters. As per Dee's request, she will be cremated with no services. Cremation arrangements were under the care of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
