Donald Horn, 79, of Scranton, PA, died Wednesday morning, November 9, 2016 at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, PA, after a lengthy illness. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was the loving husband of Carol Millard Horn for nearly 50 years. Born in Greensburg, PA, to the late Matilda and "Ray" Horn, Donald graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Samter's department store, WNEP, the Scranton Public Library and Price Chopper, where he served for 30 years in the loss prevention department. Surviving are his three children, Thomas J. Horn, Old Forge, PA; Christina R. Thomas and husband, Scott E. Thomas, Dunmore, PA; and Jaime L. Horn, Old Forge, PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Breanna Horn, Zachary Horn, Jaret Horn, Marissa Horn, Makenzie Horn and Ethan Thomas; and one great-granddaughter, Riley; sister, Lois Jones; and nieces.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the Mountain View Care Center, especially all the staff at Bella Bay, where he had many friends. Per Donald's request, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, Clarks Summit or the Scranton Public Library.
