Dominick Philip "Sonny" Colachino, 88, of Carbondale, died Saturday morning, November 4m 2023 at Geisinger- CMC, Scranton, PA, after a brief illness.

Born May 3, 1935, in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Philip D. Colachino, Sr. and Angelina Rocco Colachino. Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he received the National Defense Service Medal for service during the Korean War. He was later assigned to the National Guard. He was an inspector for General Dynamics, Eynon, PA, until his retirement.

Sonny was an avid New York Yankees fan. When he wasn't watching a game, he was a regular at Dunkin' reading his paper and drinking his coffee or at McDonnell's Restaurant having breakfast. Sonny dedicated over 40 years to the Carbondale Little League, as a member, manager and president. He loved and looked forward to spring to begin his vegetable garden. His family and friends looked forward to sharing in his harvest.

He is survived by four sons: David Colachino and wife, Jennifer of Clifford Township, PA, Matthew "Pete" Colachino of Carbondale, PA, Daniel Colachino and wife, Jennifer of West Clifford, PA, and Nick Colachino and companion, Kira of Carbondale, PA; one daughter: Karen Jankowski of Simpson, PA; eight grandchildren: Danny, Tyler, Matthew, Shane, Austin, and Jasmin Colachino, Donald Depew, and John Usher. two great-grandchildren; MaKenzie and Kylee Colachino; four sisters: Anna Evans of Mechanicsburg, PA, Mary Ambrosecchia of Carbondale, PA, Joann Chumard of Eynon, PA, and Carol Munley of Jessup, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased in death by his former wife: Darleen Kirk Colachino; and his siblings: Rose Carite, Joseph, Thomas, Louis, William and Philip.

The funeral was held Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor of the St. Rose of Lima Church, officiating. Interment with military honors, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Carbondale, PA.

Pallbearers: David Colachino, Daniel Colachino, Sr., Nick Colachino, Daniel Colachino, Jr., and Tyler Colachino.

Viewing hours were held Wednesday. November 8, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.
