Dominic Mickie Lapera, Sr., age 91, of 196 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale died Sunday evening, March 2, 2003, at the Carbondale Nursing Home. His wife of 68 years is the former Angela Petruzella.
Born March 23, 1911 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late Angelo and Francesca (Gigliotti) Lapera.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale and a church usher for over 50 years. Prior to his retirement he worked as a foreman for the DH Railroad for over 50 years.

He is survived by two daughters: Rita M. Flederbach of Trooper, PA. and Deborah Jaskot of Audubon, PA.; one son: Joseph Lapera of Lake Villa, IL.; one sister: Frances Mancuso of Carbondale, PA.; three brothers: Samuel Lapera, Bernard Lapera and Patrick Lapera all of Carbondale, PA.; 8 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters who died in an airplane accident in 1976: Dominic and Jacqueline Lapera, Jr., Joyce and Elizabeth Lapera; He was also preceded in death by one brother: John Lapera; two sisters: Caroline Anelli and Theresa Masco
The funeral was held Thursday, March 6, 2003, at 9:30 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by his nephew, Rev. John Lapera, pastor of the Church of St. Josephs, Minooka, PA. Interment, Our Mother Of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
A viewing was held Wednesday, March 5, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9.
