Diana Carachilo Palutis, age 67, of Carbondale, PA., died Monday morning, December 24, 2007 at the Mercy Hospice Inpatient Unit, Scranton, PA., after a short but inspiring battle with cancer.
She was the wife of Henry Donald Donnie Palutis.
Born June 17, 1940 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Pollits) Carachilo.
Diana graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale in 1958 and then completed Cosmetology School. Diana was a beautician for many years and a member of the Carbondale Beautician's Association. She was the Secretary of the Association for several years. More than anything, Diana valued her children, grandchildren and her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carbondale and loved volunteering at the church's annual feast. Her favorite time of year was the Christmas season; the highlight was always Christmas Eve, when her entire extended family gathered to celebrate. In August, Diana was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. But she handled her illness with dignity and grace and never exhibited self-pity. Her smile never waned; her spirit never dimmed. To know Diana is to have loved her. She treated everyone well, always saw the good in people, and left her family and friends with an abundance of wonderful memories. She will be sorely missed.
