Debbie Calandi, 70, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday morning, June 30, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Township, PA, after a brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Calandi. They were married on August 5, 1973.

Born September 10, 1952 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Agnes Beechick Seleski.

Debbie was a graduate of St. Rose High School and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Before her retirement, she and her husband owned J.C. Vinyl Siding and Windows and Calandi's Cafe, both of Carbondale. Debbie played golf and was active with the Calandi Cafe Golf League. She and Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially picking mushrooms. Debbie looked forward to their many trips to Italy to visit her husband's family. She had a fascination with cardinals and enjoyed the company of her friends over dinner.

Debbie had a heart of gold and her generosity had no bounds. For years she and her family provided Thanksgiving and Christmas day dinners to anyone in need or that was alone during the holidays. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends, as well as her dog's, Tonka and Rascal and her cat's, Sammy and Gemma.

She is survived by one son: Joseph Calandi and wife, Kimberly of Carbondale, PA; one grandson: Matthew Mosher; several cousins including Joseph Turonis and wife, Sue.

The funeral was held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: Joseph Calandi, Paul Hickey, Joseph Turonis and Josh Clifton.

Viewing hours were held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 5-8 p.m.
