Deanna G. Counterman, 70, a resident of the South Highrise, Carbondale, PA., died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at home. She was the wife of Clarence J. Counterman. Born April 23, 1939 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Ivan Milton and Sarah Adams Barney. She was of the Methodist faith and was an avid gardener and canner and enjoyed making carpets on her carpet loom. She is survived by five sons: Jeff Barney of Uniondale, PA., Daniel Barney and wife Donna of Carbondale, PA., David Counterman of Uniondale, PA., Philip Counterman and wife Nancy of Honesdale, PA., Clancy Counterman and wife Misty of Hamlin, PA.; two daughters: Winona Long and husband Kashif of Virginia and Teri Counterman of Carbondale, PA.; one brother: Gerald Barney of Simpson, PA.; five sisters: Gail Cain of Carbondale, PA., Barbara Cain of Carbondale, PA., Sonya Mullisky of Forest City, PA., Marbeth Tate of Florida and Patty Cost of Carbondale, PA.; 27 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by one son: Scott Bubba Counterman; two brothers: Kermit and Darryl Barney.A private funeral service for family was held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 4:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Street, Carbondale, with Rev. Rand Kizer, pastor of the Clinton Center Baptist Church, Waymart, PA., officiating. Cremation followed at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.A private visitation was held Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 2-4 PM.
