Obituary

David G. Palmer, 71, of Union Dale, PA., died Tuesday afternoon, March 2, 2010 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA., after a long battle with heart disease. His wife is the former Bessie Robinson. They were married December 21, 1963. Born November 6, 1938 in Blakely, PA., he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Wescott) Palmer. He was a graduate of Blakely High School and a Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Palmer's Plumbing, Heating Electrical in Union Dale for several years. He also owned and operated, along with his wife, Palmer's Personal Care Home in Union Dale. He was a former member and officer of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488 in Lenox, PA. and enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting and gardening. He loved the outdoors, was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by three sons: Michael, Gregory and David Palmer, all of Union Dale, PA.;one granddaughter: Elissa Palmer-Matos and husband William, III. of Union Dale, PA.; one grandson: Michael David Palmer, Jr. of Great Bend, PA.; two great granddaughters: Corryn and Rylee Prince, both of Union Dale, PA.; one aunt: Shirley Youshock of Sewell, NJ.; several cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 9:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with Pastor Peg Knapich, rector of the Clifford and Lenoxville United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment, Union Dale Cemetery, Union Dale, PA. Friends called Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 4-8 PM.
