Obituary

David Krenitsky, 71, of Fell Township, PA, died Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, the former Deborah A. Ward. They were married May 8, 1976.

Born December 21, 1951 in Old Forge, PA, he was the son of the late Philip and Theresa Kopistianski Krenitsky.

David was graduate of Old Forge High School and earned a carpentry degree from Johnson College. He started his career at Simplex Homes, Scranton, PA, and then worked for 20 years at Grumman Corp. in Mayfield, PA, prior to its closing. He later worked for 27 years at the Gentex Corporation, Simpson, PA, prior to his retirement in 2021.

David was an active member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Jermyn, PA, where he served as church president. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Browns fan. David devoted his life to his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He will be fondly remembered as an amazing husband and father who will be deeply missed.

He is also survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Krenitsky at home, Dianna Krenitsky and life partner, Michael Serge of Olyphant, PA and Christina Krenitsky at home; one son: Qwintin Krenitsky; two grandchildren: Theodore Serge and Benjamin David Krenitsky; six siblings: Evelyn Bunevitch of Old Forge, PA, Theresa Gatto and husband, Ted of Old Forge, PA, Alice Hughes of Springbrook Township, PA, Margie Struzzieri of Pittston, PA, Mildred Heller of Nazareth, PA and Philip Krenitsky of Old Forge, PA; his father and mother in law: Edward and Ann Ward of Carbondale, PA; and several nieces and nephews, including Melissa Thornton and husband, Joseph and Tracy Duffy and husband, Bob.

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Polanchik; and five half siblings.

A Requiem service was held Monday, July 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 305 Walnut Street, Jermyn, PA, with Rev. Fr. John Black, pastor, officiating. Interment, St. Michael Orthodox Cemetery, Jermyn, PA.

Pallbearers: Robert Duffy, Joseph Thornton, Joey Thornton, Michael Serge, Paul Polanchik, Theodore Gatto and Carl Greco.

A viewing was held Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. with a parastas service at 4:30 p.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations were made in David's name to St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 305 Walnut Street, Jermyn, PA 18433.
