Allen Jones, 73, of Clifford Township, PA died suddenly on Monday, June 12, 2023, at his beloved family farm. He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra "Sandy" Manning. They were married on September 10, 1971 and were lovingly married for 51 years.

Born August 20, 1949 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Eileta Barber Jones.

Allen was a 1968 graduate of Mountain View High School where he was an outstanding athlete and record-holding pole vaulter. After high school he worked as a successful self-employed contractor. Moving from PA in 1980 Allen, Sandy, and their children resided in Sherburne, New York, for 18 years. They later resided in Liberty Township, Ohio, for 14 years. Returning to the Clifford area, he and Sandy presently operate the Shady Rest Campground.

Allen was a simple, kind and authentic man; a good man who loved his family beyond measure. His love for hunting, especially turkey and whitetail deer, was a manifestation of the deer genes in his DNA. He was a mentor to many youngsters who wanted to learn the way of a hunter. His quick wit and precise analogies were second only to his distinctive and head-turning whistle. Allen could fix or diffuse most anything, including a bad travel day upon campers' arrivals at Shady Rest Campground. He loved life and greeted each day with anticipation. He was a hard worker, who truly earned his money, and was generous, but judicious in his giving. He had an even temperament and was the ballast of the boat; always maintaining a unique sense of humor. Allen was rich with friendships, especially with his Lord and Savor Jesus Christ. Those who was blessed to know Allen, were better for knowing him. He always left things better than he found them, including our hearts.

Allen is also survived by his three children: Jennifer DiBerardinis and fiancé, Andrew Flynn of Virginia Beach, VA; Paul Allen Jones and wife, Gretchen of Sherburne, NY; and David Michael Jones and companion, Taylor Motlow of New Orleans, LA. He was affectionately "Grampie" to six grandchildren: Alice (Allie) and Robert Samuel DiBerardinis and Madalyn, Wyatt, Eleanora and Elizabeth Jones. Also surviving are two sisters: Carolyn Ransom and husband, Donald of Lenoxville, PA, and Marilyn Turner and husband, Walter of Clifford Township, PA; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arnold and Alice Manning of South Gibson, PA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Carol Jones of Royal, PA; Richard and Faye Manning of Jacksonville, FL; Margaret (Peggy) and Paul Gleva of Loveland, CO; and Gayle and Jon Wellborn of Weimar, TX; and several nieces nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother: Terry Scott Jones.

The funeral was held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Jim Glemboski officiating the service. Interment, Welsh Hill Cemetery, Union Dale, PA.

Pallbearers: Paul Jones, David Jones, Wyatt Jones, Samuel DiBerardinas, Trent Turner, Randy Ransom, Donald Ransom, Jeremy Jones and Jason Jones.

Viewing hours were held Friday, June 16, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 10-11 a.m.
