David Gonzalez, 67, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Berwick Hospital Center, Berwick, PA, following a battle with cancer. He is survived by his longtime companion, Maryann Boyce. Born January 15, 1954 in Moca, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Jacinto and Juana Cordero Gonzalez. David was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and worked as a cook for many years at Sebastianelli's Restaurant, Eynon. He loved traveling and experiencing all of Northeast Pennsylvania. He is also survived by three children: David Gonzalez of Los Angeles, CA, Kevin Boyce and wife, Dawn of Archbald, PA and Dianitza Medina and husband, Gerardo of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren: David Gonzalez, Jr., Andrea Gonzalez, Paris Matos, Amanda Medina, Noah Boyce and Bella Boyce; one great granddaughter: Abigale Gonzalez; five brothers: Freddy, Valentine, Mario, Cookie and Lee and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers. The funeral was held Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Walsh, pastor. Interment, St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery, Honesdale, PA. Pallbearers: David Gonzalez, David T., Kevin Boyce, Ronald Gonzalez, Mariano Gonzalez, Julio Gonzalez, Mario Gonzalez, Sr., and Mario Gonzalez, Jr. Viewing hours were held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent to the St. Rose Church Restoration Project, 6 N.
