David Lee Brainard, 79, of Union Dale, PA, died Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his companion of 11 years, Wendy Bibalo.

Born September 4, 1945 on the family farm in Harford, PA, he was the son of the late Lewis and Marjorie Peck Brainard.

David was a graduate of Mountain View High School and grew up on the family farm in Harford. After farming for many years, he was the owner and operator of Brainard's Trucking where he hauled milk and also All Natural Stone in Deposit, NY.

He was a member of the Harford First Congregational Church and enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He enjoyed having parties at his home, playing the game Aggravation and traveling cross country with Wendy. David will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is also survived by three children: Lynn Brainard and wife, Bonnie of Rolla, MO, Michael Brainard of Duke Center, PA, and Stephanie Stone of Hallstead, PA, also Richard Bednarczyk of Deposit, NY, whom David raised like one of his own; six grandchildren; one sister: Sharon Decker of Harford, PA; one sister-in-law: Bonnie Brainard of Kingsley, PA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin: Ruth Taugher of Lenoxville, PA, and Wendy's entire family.

He was also preceded in death by one sister: Janice Estabrook; and two brothers: William and Jack Brainard.

A funeral service was held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, officiated by Rev. William Hagenbuch, pastor of the Harford First Congregational Church.

A viewing was held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
