Darius S. Compton, 57, a resident of Clifford Township, PA, for over 40 years, died Tuesday morning, March 3, 2015 at the Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 3, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY, he is the son of William Lawrence Compton of California and the late Naomi Noville Compton.
He was a graduate of New York City public schools and Penn State University. Prior to his illness, he had been a truck driver for many years with TRL and Dupont Trucking.
Darius was passionate about music, loved attending concerts and enjoyed restoring old vinyl records. He also enjoyed scuba diving and cross country skiing.
He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, especially the Ward family of Greenfield Township, whom he considered his family.
He is survived by one sister: Tchad Compton of Naperville, IL; two nieces; an uncle, aunts and cousins.
The funeral was held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Pastor Brian Nichols, of the Finch Hill Baptist Church and Pastor Bonnie Resseguie of the Clifford Baptist Church, officiating. Interment, Monday, March 9, 2015, Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
