Daniel J. Pagnoni, age 84, of Wolcott, CT., died Monday, December 31, 2012 at the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, San Gabriel, CA., while visiting his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Ruth Lawrence. Born March 5, 1928 in Jessup, PA., he was the son of the late Ettore and Maria (D'Angeli) Pagnoni. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and earned an accounting degree from Post Junior College, both of Waterbury, CT. He also served in the Army where he graduated from cooking school. He retired after 34 years as an accountant from Uniroyal Chemical, Naugatuck, MA., worked as a municipal finance officer and part time police officer for the town of Wolcott. He was a member St. Pius X Church, Wolcott where he also served as an usher. He enjoyed country music, western and action movies, helping people with their taxes and was an avid Syracuse, Penn State and Yankees fan. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and traveled across the country to spend as much time as possible with them. He is survived by one son: Philip Pagnoni and wife Darcey of Wolcott, CT.; one grandson: Jason Pagnoni and girlfriend Jody Zenkus of San Gabriel, CA.; one granddaughter: Jessica Pagnoni and fiance Travis Huff of Studio City, CA.; a newborn great grandson: Kingston; one sister: Lena Kowalchick of Wolcott, CT.; one brother: Ettore Babe Pagnoni and wife Elizabeth of Bristol, CT. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Carlo Leo Pagnoni. The funeral was held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 8:30 AM from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, celebrated by Rev. Michael Dolan. Interment with military honors, Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott, CT. Friends called Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Out of town arrangements were conducted by the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent to the American Heart Association. Pallbearers: Jason Pagnoni David Dimanno.
